CropFinder ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following when you create an account:

Email address — provided directly or via Google or Apple sign-in
Name — provided by Google or Apple when signing in with those services (if applicable)
App preferences — map view settings you configure in the app
Device and usage information — device model, operating system version, app version, and platform, used to improve app performance and diagnose issues

If you grant location permission, your device's location is accessed only to center the map on your current position. Location data is not stored on our servers.

Whether or not you create an account (including when you use CropFinder as a guest), we collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how the app is used and improve it:

Anonymous device identifier — a random ID generated on your device (not your name, email, or a cross-app advertising identifier) so we can count distinct devices and measure return usage
Usage events — in-app actions such as map views, field taps, searches, and feature usage
Approximate location — a coarse city/region estimate derived from your IP address, used for regional usage analytics. This is separate from precise GPS location, which is used only to center the map and is never stored
Diagnostics — crash and error reports used to fix problems

This analytics data is not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use third-party advertising identifiers. We do not collect payment information or any data beyond what is listed above.

To create and manage your account
To save your in-app preferences across sessions
To provide access to CropFinder features

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

CropFinder uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

Supabase — authentication and database hosting. Data is stored on servers in the US (AWS us-west-2). Supabase Privacy Policy
Google OAuth — optional sign-in method. If you choose "Sign in with Google", Google's authentication service is used. Google Privacy Policy
Apple Sign In — optional sign-in method. If you choose "Sign in with Apple", Apple's authentication service is used. Apple Privacy Policy
Mapbox — map rendering and tile services. Mapbox Privacy Policy
Vercel — web hosting and content delivery. Vercel Privacy Policy

4. Data Retention

Your account data is retained as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the My Account screen in the app. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

5. Crop Data

CropFinder displays publicly available agricultural data sourced from the USDA Cropland Data Layer (CDL). This data is not personally identifiable and is not linked to your account in any way.

6. Children's Privacy

CropFinder is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
